“We just have to stick with our budget principles and live within our means, and I think this confirms that we are heading in the right direction when it comes to a fiscal ‘15 budget,” said Rep. Chuck Soderberg, R-Le Mars, chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. “This will continue to allow us to move forward with what we have planned over the last couple of months.”
Senate Appropriations Chairman Bob Dvorsky, D-Coralville, said the unchanged report means there’s no need to scale back on budget priorities.
“Senate Democrats will work with Gov. Branstad and Republican legislators to continue the tuition freeze at our public universities and invest in our community colleges,” he said in a statement. “These steps will help solve Iowa’s skilled worker gap and sustain Iowa’s overall economic growth.”
