CodeRED now up and running

Staff

The CodeRED emergency notification system for county residents and businesses is now fully operational. To receive emergency notifications the county needs you to provide a phone number to put into the system.

The CodeRED system is voluntary. To help ensure you receive emergency notifications don’t forget to provide the Lafayette County Safety Office or Emergency Management with an existing phone number. The system will work with mobile, business, and household phones.

To ensure no one is omitted, Emergency Management encourages all county individuals, organizations and businesses to log onto the Emergency Management Web site and follow the link to the CodeRED Residential and Business Data Collection Web page, www.lafayettecountyflorida.org. Those without Internet access may call the Lafayette County Public Safety Office (386-294-4178) Monday through Friday (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and provide a phone number.

Required information includes fist and last name, street address (physical address, no PO boxes), city and zip code with the primary phone number. You have the option to provide an additional phone number for alerts.

No one should automatically assume his or her phone number is included. All businesses should register, as should all individuals who have unlisted phone numbers, those who have changed their phone number or address within the last year, and those who use a cellular phone as their primary home phone.

CodeRED gives those who want to be included an easy and secure method for doing so.

The information you provide Emergency Management will ONLY be used for Emergency county notification purposes. Questions should be directed to the Emergency Management Office at 386-294-1950.

Lafayette County Emergency Management partners with Lafayette County Schools’ Safe Schools Healthy Students Initiative to develop and maintain unified crisis management plans and protocol. The crisis management team discusses possible crisis management exercises and develops needed crisis exercises in the schools and community. If you have any questions about the Safe Schools Healthy Students Initiative you may contact Project Director Becky Sharpe at 386-204-1417 or by email at bsharpe@lafayette.k12.fl.us.
