---- — FULTON, Ill. — A Clinton restaurant will be moving into the old Corner Treasures & Treats building at 1016 Fourth St. in Fulton.
Charles Dykstra, of the Fulton Retail Development Group, made the announcement during the Fulton City Council meeting this week. Owner Renee Holmes confirmed the announcement Tuesday morning.
The retail development group purchased the Fulton property in December. Dykstra said the 50 members wanted to add a good restaurant into the Fulton area. He said the group plans to give her a generous rent agreement that includes a seven-year lease without any increases.
"We're real quite excited about her and I think it's a good thing economically," Dykstra said. He added that Holmes is one of the finest restauranteurs in the area.
Fulton Mayor Larry Russell thanked Dykstra and the group for all of the work done to improve the downtown area. He added the city has a great partnership with the group. The council agreed it was excited about the announcement.
"You can do things that we in the city government can't do," Russell said. "So we appreciate the partnership."
Russell added there will be infrastructure concerns to deal with. Dykstra told the council Krumpets has to vacate its current location by June 30. He said they are working to get the building ready in time.
