Hypnotist to perform at Ohnward

MAQUOKETA — The Ohnward Fine Arts Center will host a show featuring a hypnotist later this month.

Jim Wand will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at Ohnward in Maquoketa. Cocktail hour stars at 6 p.m. and Wand’s show lasts approximately two hours. The show is for people aged 18 and older.

During each performance, volunteers are never asked personal questions or put into compromising situations, where they would be embarrassed in any way.

The performance begins with an introductory talk about hypnosis, what it is, how it works, and why someone would volunteer to be hypnotized.

The volunteers are then hypnotized as a group and engage in a number of “audience friendly skits.”

Wand is the founder and owner of Wand Enterprises, The Hypnosis Agency.

He has been involved in the field of hypnosis for more than 25 years. Wand holds a Ph.D. in the field of psychology and has appeared with celebrities and on television.

Tickets are $22 in advance and $25 at the door.

Tickets can be purchased at the Ohnward Fine Arts Center, Osterhaus Pharmacy and the Maquoketa State Bank Main Office.
