Camanche FD poster contest winners announced

CAMANCHE — The Camanche Volunteer Fire Department has announced local winners in the Iowa Firemen’s Association annual fire prevention poster contest.

There were about 160 entries from the two participating grade levels. One entry from third and fourth grades will be sent on to compete at the state level. In order to be submitted at the state level, the contestant must receive first place at the local level.

Placewinners included first place Rylee Wynkoop, second place Emma Balk, and third place Madeline Sager in third grade; and first place Jamie Robertson, second place Emily Murphy, and third place Emma Langfitt in fourth grade.

“The students do a great job with this project every year,” Camanche Fire Chief Dave Schutte said. “It is always difficult to choose the winners. We are very thankful to have the support of the school district and for all the time and effort put in by Mrs. Hahn their art teacher.”

Each of the students who poster was chosen at the local level received a fire department T-shirt for their winning efforts.
