Peace Soup completes 7th year

CLINTON — Peace Soup concluded its seventh year this week.

Peace Soup was held for five Tuesdays during the Lenten season. The series for 2014, “Interfaith Connections to Peace,” featured the topic of Christianity. Elizabeth Liggett, pastor at St. Paul Lutheran Church along with the Rev. Peter Sickels of Christ Epicopal Church and Sister Eileen Golby, vice president of the Sisters of St. Francis, spoke at St. Boniface Hall this week during the final program.

During the Peace Soup series, a brief history of each religion was given by the speakers followed by a brief discussion period used by audience members to learn about the beliefs of others at the table and how each person saw the traditions of peace held by different religions.

During the Christianity segment, a short video on “Just War Theory” was presented and discussed. Following the talk, a fictional dialogue “The Sultan and Saint Francis” was performed by Sister Hilary Mullany and Sister Paschal Hocum. The evening and the series finished with all singing “The Prayer of St. Francis.”
