Police seek public’s help in burglaries

MORRISON, Ill. —  Morrison Police are investigating a burglary that occurred at the Dollar General on Thursday in Morrison.

At least two suspects entered the Dollar General at approximately 4:45 p.m. Thursday. Police said that as one suspect allegedly distracted employees, the other suspect entered the break room, stole employees’ wallets and then left the store.

The employees’ credit cards were later used in businesses in Clinton and possibly the Quad-City area.

Morrison Police Chief Brian Melton said this burglary may be connected to other similar Dollar General burglaries that occurred in Fulton, Ill., on Dec. 31 and in Port Byron, Ill., on Thursday.

The department is asking for the public’s help. If anyone has any information regarding these burglaries, contact the Morrison Police at (815) 772-7659 or call Whiteside County Crime Stoppers at (877) 625-7867.

Crime Stoppers offers cash rewards of up to $1,000 to anyone with information that leads to an arrest. All callers remain anonymous.
