District budget talks on tonight's agenda

CLINTON — Prior to tonight's Committee of the Whole meeting for the Clinton Community School District, the board will discuss its Fiscal Year 2014-2015 budget. That conversation will take place at 5 p.m., with the regularly scheduled COW taking place immediately after.

The budget already has served as a partial topic for school officials in the early part of the year. Earlier this month, board members voted unanimously to reduce the district by 11 positions after facing a shortfall due to declined enrollment.

District Superintendent Deb Olson said following that Feb. 10 meeting that she believes no one who wants to work within at Clinton schools next year will lose his or her job. Board members have credited Olson during this process for using attrition during her approach to the sensitive subject.

Olson's job performance will also come under review of the board during a scheduled closed session portion of tonight's meeting.

Appointed project manager Eric White of Estes Construction will also be on hand during the COW meeting to update the board on construction of the new Clinton Middle School.
