Movies, magic, creative writing all at the library

The library will be closed today in observance of Independence Day. The library will be open for normal hours on Friday, July 5.

Visit the library and enjoy entertaining and informative programs. Here is a list of what is going on:

Groundbreaking Reads adult summer reading: The prize winner for June 28 for the adult summer reading program is Jen Sondgeroth. The prize this week is two $10 gift certificates for J&D Steak House. She also wins two “rent one get one free” Family Video movie rentals certificates and two certificates for a “buy one get one free” sight-seeing cruise on the Celebration Belle.

Magic and wonder: Prepare to be amazed by the magic extraordinaire of Rick Eugene on Saturday, July 6, at 1 p.m. There may even be a flying mouse! Program will take place at the Main Branch in the Children’s Department.

Dig into Reading with Dirt Movers: Join us for stories and fun activities about construction vehicles! This program is for kids in kindergarten to second grade and will be Monday, July 8, at 1 p.m.

Teen Movie Night: On Monday, July 8, come watch Katniss Everdeen represent District 12 to save her sister’s life and possibly her own. Movie starts at 5 p.m. and snacks will be provided.

SCORE for business: Monday, July 8, at 6 p.m. in Children’s Nonfiction Department. Willie Ellis of the SCORE organization will present an overview for prospective or existing business owners. SCORE is a nonprofit association and has been dedicated to helping small businesses for nearly fifty years and is supported by the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Underground scavenger hunt: Travel deep beneath the surface in a hunt to solve mysterious happenings. This underground scavenger hunt will take you to another world. Can you solve the mystery hidden in the library? For grades third through fifth on Tuesday, July 9, starting at 3 p.m.
