---- — CLINTON — More than a dozen people have submitted applications for the appointment as district court judge for the Seventh Judicial District.
With the resignation of Judge Gary D. McKenrick, a vacancy must be filled in the district, which includes Scott, Clinton, Muscatine, Cedar and Jackson counties.
The seventh district’s Judicial Nominating commission will meet Wednesday to interview the candidates and nominate two of them for the position.
Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad will then select one of them for the opening.
The interview portion of the meeting is open to the public.
Among those applying for the position is Clinton County Attorney Mike Wolf, Barbara Wallace, Cheryl Newport, Mark Fowlrer, Stephen Wing, Cheryl Traum, John Kies, Richard Westpahl, Kimberly Shepard, Derek Jones, Stuart Werling, Alan Ostergren and Melissa Gross.
