---- — CLINTON — The Seventh Judicial District Judicial Nominating Commission has nominated two people to potentially fill the opening created by the resignation of Judge Gary D. McKenrick.
The nominees are Kimberly K. Shepherd and Stuart Werling. Gov. Terry Branstad will have 30 days to appoint one of them to the District Court bench.
Shepherd, of Bettendorf, graduated from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2003 and served as an assistant county attorney for Clinton County between 2004 and 2007. From 2008 to present, she has been employed as an assistant county attorney for Scott County. She also had a private practice in Davenport before her employment with the County Attorney’s office.
Werling, of Tipton, graduated from the University of Arkansas College of Law in 1980. He has been in the private practice of law since then and has served as a Cedar County magistrate since 1986.
