CLINTON — The latest monthly arrest reports from the Clinton Police Department indicate that a bulk of arrests happening in the city take place in Wards 1 and 2.
The recently unveiled report from the city demonstrates that from July 1 to Oct. 31, 471 arrests were made in Clinton. Of those arrests, 36.9 percent (174 total) took place in Ward 2, which is located just north of the south bridge, as far west as The Oaks golf course and south of the Clinton County Attorney's office. Ward 1 — the south-most portion of Clinton — had 35.7 percent (168 total) of arrests in the city.
Both wards individually carried more arrests than Wards 3 and 4 combined. Ward 4, the north-most ward in the city, had the least amount of arrests with 63, three less than Ward 3.
The arrest reports from four months also break down the types of crimes committed leading to the arrests. Police arrested 94 people for Public Intoxication, the most of any other crime, followed by 89 arrests made for Shoplifting.
The report also showed that 76.2 percent of people arrested were caucasian.
