Camanche committee meets tonight

CAMANCHE — A committee will meet again tonight to consider Camanche City Hall's future.

The committee was formed by the Camanche City Council and met for the first time May 7. Composed of two councilman and individuals from the community, the group will look into either renovating the existing city hall or re-locating it. Tonight's meeting will begin at 6 p.m. at Camanche City Hall.

During the first meeting, the committee toured the building and discussed the pros and cons of the existing city hall. A list of priorities for the city hall were created.

City Administrator Tom Roth told the council Tuesday night that Engineer Dan Solchenberger will be at tonight's meeting with an architect to discuss what will have to be done to make the current facility meet the city's needs. Roth said he is wants it to be more functional, efficient and modern.

The meeting will focus on possible alternative locations if renovating the current city hall is not the best answer. Roth said the committee will go over a list of places. He indicated these might be discussed with each location listed as a letter so that they do not openly criticize properties in Camanche.

The meeting is open the public.
