Davenport woman gets prison time for bank fraud

DAVENPORT — A 52-year-old Davenport woman has been given a year and a day in prison for defrauding a credit union.

Federal prosecutors say Kelly Taylor had pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Davenport to bank fraud that occurred between Aug. 28 last year and this past January. She was sentenced this week.

Prosecutors say Taylor wrote checks on the Scott Schools Credit Union account of a business she and her husband owned and deposited them in their personal account at the credit union.

But, prosecutors say, there wasn't enough money in the business account to cover the checks. Prosecutors say Taylor then wrote checks on the personal account and deposited them in the business account — again without sufficient funds in the personal account to make the checks good.
