Take a tour of the Curtis Mansion

The Clinton Herald

---- — The Clinton Women’s Club is having a membership drive and had a Friendship Luncheon on July 20 when 34 women joined the club; less than half said they would pay their $30 a year and be inactive and more than half said they were happy to join our group and will attend when they can. We had 100 members last year and want 200 this year.

We have said our drive would be until the end of July, but we have extended it until Aug. 15; if you have not sent in your $30 to 420 Fifth Ave. South, please do so soon.

The George Curtis Mansion is a gem that many Clintonians have not seen inside. We are open every Wednesday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day for an hour-long tour that costs $6. Tours are given other times by appointment, with a $20 minimum. Call 249-5861 to make an appointment. We have a 20-room mansion that is worth the hour of your time.

There was a story in the Clinton Herald on July 22, telling about the Castle tours at St. George’s home, Havencrest, Savanna, Ill., for $20. We did printing for Facemakers and the St. George family and I took the tour with 23 other people. Their tours are by appointment and I encourage anyone that likes old and beautiful things to take the tour in August. For an appointment call Michael Dunavant at (225) 603-3654.
