Take Back the Night rally, march coming up

The annual “Take Back the Night” event is scheduled for 6 p.m. Nov. 12 at Indiana State University’s Dede Plaza. This year’s theme is “There’s No Excuse for Abuse.”

The rally and march will focus on domestic abuse and violence against women. The rally will include information, motivational speakers and a community pledge. Participants will then be invited to march around campus and the nearby community as a demonstration against domestic violence.

A donation drive is also ongoing as a part of the “Wipe Out Violence” campaign to support the Council on Domestic Abuse, which provides counseling and shelter for women and children who are domestic abuse victims.

Donations are sought of paper towels, toilet paper, new washcloths and bath towels. Collections bins are available through Friday at the entrance of the Family and Consumer Science Building on the ISU campus and in the mezzanine of the general education department in Rhoads Hall. Donations may also be brought to the rally.
