Johnstown resident indicted by jury on federal drug charge

Marcellus Lumpkin, 29, of the 300 block of Decker Avenue, Johnstown, has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Johnstown on a charge of distribution of crack cocaine.
According to the indictment, Lumpkin distributed less than five grams of crack on Sept. 24, 2008.
The Johnstown police, Cambria County Drug Task Force and the Laurel Highlands office of the FBI conducted the investigation leading to the indictment.

Road rage arrest
BOSWELL – A borough man has been charged with aggravated assault following a road rage incident, state police said Saturday.
Patrick M. McIntosh, 64, put his vehicle into reverse and rammed a vehicle belonging to Michael H. Wheatley, 41, of Boswell, troopers said.
The incident occurred at 7 p.m. Thursday at Green Bridge Road and Main Street.
McIntosh also was charged with driving under the influence.
DUI charges pending
WILMORE – A Meyersdale woman was treated at Memorial Medical Center for minor injuries after she wrecked the 1998 Ford Escort she was driving, state police said.
Valerie M. Hunt, 29, drove off the right side of Route 53 in Wilmore at 9:45 p.m. Oct. 30, police said. The car struck a traffic sign head-on, traveled along a hillside, crossed over the road and came to rest at the intersection with Route 160.
Hunt was passed out behind the wheel, police said, and DUI charges are pending.
Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Wilmore Fire Department and Portage EMS.
Halloween threats, assault
INDIANA – Halloween afternoon ended badly for a 31-year-old man who borough police said harassed trick-or-treaters and their parents while drinking from an open container.
Meade Sarver of Ernest was arrested and taken to Indiana Regional Medical Center, where police said he became verbally violent by threatening to kill officers and their families, thrashing around and screaming profanities. While waiting in an exam room, Sarver struck and kicked officers and knocked over hospital equipment, police said.
He was taken to Indiana County Jail and faces seven charges, including simple assault, terroristic threats and disorderly conduct.
Egg throwers charged
INDIANA – Three people were arrested on a handful of charges after borough police said they threw eggs at 50 cars.
Police said Tuesday that those arrested were Jason C. Bellman, 26, of Penn Run; Michele A. Cousins, 44, of Indiana; and Kayla M. Irvin, 23, of Shelocta.
They face charges including propulsion of missiles into a roadway, disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, scattering rubbish and depositing waste on a highway.
DUI arrests
The Cambria County DUI Task Force made several arrests while conducting patrols for driving under the influence from 10 p.m. Oct. 30 to 2 a.m. Saturday.
Eight police departments were represented in the patrols, said Johnstown police Capt. Andy Frear, the task force’s southern coordinator.
Frear said officers made 41 stops and issued 28 traffic warnings and eight traffic citations.
Five motorists were arrested on DUI charges.
