Professional horse trainers share their knowledge at free horse clinics

FORT WORTH — Area horse owners interested in learning valuable training and riding tips from the pros can get some free advice and watch live demonstrations at the upcoming World Championship Paint Horse Show, to be held at the Will Rogers Memorial Center in Fort Worth.

Horse training seminars and demonstrations include:

Saturday, Nov. 7

2 to 3 p.m.

“Starting a Young Horse”

Learn the basics of horse training at this clinic and demonstration by trainer Amy Andresen, from the Barn at Cedar Hill. Discover innovative ways to teach your young horse to be a willing partner. These techniques will help you make significant progress in learning to work with your horse and teach basic training skills. Amy will demonstrate on a beautiful Paint filly that will be raffled during the World Show.



3 to 5 p.m.

“All About Reining”

Trainer Clint Haverty demonstrates the skills that helped him to become a distinguished member of the National Reining Horse Association Hall of Fame. Learn all of the patterns involved in reining and how to train your horse to execute them. This is an opportunity to learn from a man who is ranked among the highest level in Reining Horse circles.



Sunday, Nov. 8

3 to 5 p.m.

“Ask the Judge!”

Participate in a lively and informative question and answer session with long-time AQHA judge and competitor, Lynn Palm. Here’s your chance to ask an experienced judge any questions you have about showing. Demonstrations will include:

Showing with Confidence

Lynn will share with you how to an organized competitor, plan a perfect warm up and how to “wow” a judge in any all-around event.

Show Ring Strategy for Rail Classes

If you are serious about improving your performance in the show ring, don’t miss this clinic packed with exercises, tips and strategies that will benefit both English and Western riders of any breed.



Friday, Nov. 13

1 to 3:30 p.m.

“The Art of Dressage”

Dressage trainer and rider Joy Alexander offers classroom lessons about the art of dressage. From 1 to 2 p.m., Joy will teach in a classroom setting, then from 2 to 3:30 p.m., she will conduct a live demonstration with talented dressage horses. The following evening, Saturday, Nov. 14, at approximately 5 p.m., Joy will showcase her skills on several dressage horses during the awards night celebration in the John Justin Arena.
