I Reckon …
When asked to submit a word for Welton Gaddy’s book, “I Give You My Word,” author and preacher Will Campbell offered, “Reckon.” Campbell explained that in his native Mississippi if someone said, “I reckon so,” it meant that “the speaker was sure of something and at the same time he was not absolutely positive.” It left room for questioning and discussion.
