Volleyball standings - schedules - 10/27/09

Tuesday marks the end of the prep volleyball regular season and thus, district play for area schools.

While the rest of the District 3-5A teams play out their respective schedules, Weatherford High School's varsity girls catch a bye on the final day of play. The Lady Roos have second place secured, with North Crowley already assured the district championship. The only undetermined seeds are Abilene and Richland, who are currently sitting in the third and fourth spots, respectively.

In postseason play, Weatherford will face the third-place finisher from District 4-5A, which will be solidified with Tuesday's games.

Aledo's Ladycats also have a lock on the runner-up spot in District 6-4A. Should Birdville stub its toe in the finale against Saginaw and Aledo takes care of business hosting Boswell, the Ladycats could nab a share of the district crown. Barring that outcome, Aledo will be paired up with District 5-4A's third-place team. Springtown, by beating Mineral Wells, would finish at 7-7, but will need help from Brewer to complicate the fourth position with Azle.

Peaster is the District 6-2A champ, regardless of the outcome of Tuesday's match against Jacksboro, and will draw a bye in the first round of bi-district play next week. Brock has clinched third place without a chance to improve its standing, and will face the second seed from District 5-2A.
