Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Home and Crematory.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. An Order of the Eastern Star memorial service will be held in conjunction with the funeral service.

CLINTON — Patricia F. Ernst, 70, of Clinton, died Friday at the Mayo Clinic St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren: Carl Ernst, Lance Ernst, Luke Ernst, Sativa Ernst, Kyle Ernst, Brady Ernst and Curtis Ilg.

She was born April 2, 1937, in Reinbeck to Carl L. and Florence Schmidt Rickert. She married Dean Ernst on March 27, 1955, in Rochester, Minn.

She was a 1955 graduate of Elgin (Minn.) High School.

She was a homemaker. She also was employed as a teacher’s aide working at Henry Sabin and Whittier elementary schools.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Clinton, where she sang in the church choir. She was a member and current worthy matron of the Clinton Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star 65 and held many offices in the order including Grand Esther of the Order of Eastern Star Grand Chapter of Iowa in 1989 and a Martha Star of the General Grand Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star 2004 to 2006. She also sang with the Clintones.

Survivors include her husband; three sons, Dan Ernst of Eugene, Ore., Joel Ernst of Clinton and Jeff (Laura) Ernst of Clinton; one daughter, Dr. Sheryl (John Ilg) Ernst of Clinton; nine grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; and one stepgreat-grandchild.

The family requests that memorials be made to First United Methodist Church or the Clinton Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star 65.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
