MORRISON, Ill. — Whiteside County authorities have released the name of a child killed in a collision Saturday in rural Sterling, Illinois.
Addison P. Headlee,9, died as the result of the crash that happened shortly before 10:30 a.m. Saturday on Illinois Route 40 near Ridge Road in rural Sterling.
The crash involved a passenger vehicle and a farm tractor and grain cart, according to a sheriff’s department press release. According to the release, Jennifer M. Schryver, 45, of Milledgeville, Illinois was driving a 2009 Hyundai east on Route 40 when she attempted to pass a farm tractor and grain cart, which was also traveling east on Route 40.
The tractor, a 2018 John Deere, was pulling a half full grain cart and was driven by 19-year-old Kyle Aude of Chadwick, Illinois, deputies reported. Schryver’s vehicle struck the rear area of the grain cart.
Schryver was transported to CGH Medical Center for her injuries. Headlee, a front passenger in Schryver’s vehicle, was airlifted from the scene and flown to Javon Bea-Hospital Riverside in Rockford, Illinois. The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office notified Whiteside County authorities that the child had died from injuries she sustained in the crash. Aude was not injured.
Whiteside County deputies were assisted at the scene by the Milledgeville Fire Department and EMS, Illinois State Police, and CGH Ambulance Medifore Air Medical.
