CLINTON — An arraignment is scheduled next week for a man facing 47 felonies and 121 misdemeanor charges.
Arraignment is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Jan. 17 for Timothy C. Geerts, 44, 1212 Eighth Ave. North. Attorney Scott J. Nelson filed a written appearance on behalf of Geerts and requested the matter be set for arraignment.
District Court Judge Mark Lawson on Tuesday ordered the State Public Defender's Office in Davenport to be allowed to withdraw as counsel of record for Geerts in the case. Lawson ordered Nelson be appointed to represent Geerts.
Derek Jones of the State Public Defender's Office on Tuesday filed the motion to withdraw, citing a temporary case overload. Attorney Joel Saldivar was initially appointed to represent Geerts.
Geerts in one case is charged with one count of second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony.
He is charged in a separate case with 39 counts of third-degree sexual abuse, a Class C felony; seven counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a Class C felony; and 121 counts of invasion of privacy, an aggravated misdemeanor.
Bond in the first case is set at $25,000, cash only. Bond in the second case is set at $10,000, cash only.
