SAVANNA, Ill. — Stewards of the Upper Mississippi River Refuge and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are co-hosting a birding tour into the closed area of Lost Mound on Dec. 22.
The bus will leave promptly at 9 a.m. and will return at noon. Participants are to meet at 8:45 a.m. at the Lost Mound Office parking lot, which is located at 3159 Crim Road, Savanna. Tours are free, but seating is limited. This is an excellent opportunity to travel through the refuge with experienced birders and learn about the history of Lost Mound (formerly the Savanna Army Depot).
Stewards of the Upper Mississippi River Refuge is non-profit organization dedicated to environmental education, creating quality wildlife habitat and enhancing the public’s understanding and enjoyment of the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife and Fish Refuge and to provide assistance to the mission and programs of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
