Bond set in sex abuse cases

CLINTON — Bond has been set for a Clinton man accused of one count of second-degree sexual abuse, 47 felony charges and another 121 misdemeanor charges.

Timothy C. Geerts, 44, 1212 Eighth Ave. North, is charged with one count of second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony. Bond is set at $25,000, cash only, on that charge.

Geerts is charged in a separate case with seven counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, a Class C felony; 39 counts of third-degree sexual abuse, a Class C felony; and 121 counts of invasion of privacy, an aggravated misdemeanor. Bond in that case is set at $10,000, cash only.

A preliminary hearing in both cases is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Jan. 11. Attorney Joel Saldivar is appointed to represent Geerts.

According to the affidavit, on Dec. 27, a female went to the Clinton Police Department to speak with an officer regarding unauthorized videos and pictures being taken of her nude and partially nude. The female said she lived with Geerts until two weeks prior. The female said she located a Micro SD card from Geerts' cell phone when she was still living with him at his residence.

She reported that she observed multiple unauthorized videos and photographs of herself partially nude and fully nude, according to court documents, which also state the female said she observed unauthorized videos on the card showing Geerts and her having sexual intercourse.

The female said she found videos and photographs on the card that appeared to be taken from inside the toilet in her bathroom at Geerts' residence. The court documents also say that some videos show a hidden camera near the shower and bath and depict both adults and children using the shower and bath, while others show Geerts utilizing his cell phone to record under the door frame of the bathroom when the bathroom was being used.

A search warrant to examine the card's contents was executed by a police officer, who observed a video showing an adult male committing a sex act on a juvenile female as well, the documents state. The officer reported locating over 100 videos and photographs that were sexual in nature.

The officer on Jan. 2 conducted a recorded interview with Geerts at the Clinton Police Department, when, police say, Geerts admitted to authorities that images in the video were of him. He admitted the juvenile was a 10-year-old female and that the video was produced in his residence, according to court records.
