Camanche seeks information on park fires

CAMANCHE — Local authorities are investigating two fires discovered at two parks in Camanche.

A press release submitted by the Camanche Police and Fire departments states they were dispatched to Platt Park around 9 p.m. Dec. 27 to extinguish a piece of playground equipment that was on fire. Personnel located a plastic slide appearing to have been intentionally set on fire. The fire was extinguished by fire department personnel. Damage is estimated to be over $1,000.

The release also states that just after midnight Jan. 6, the Camanche Police and Fire departments were dispatched to Anthony Park, located in the 1200 block of Third Street, where another plastic slide appeared to have been intentionally set on fire. The fire was extinguished by fire department personnel. Damage was estimated over $1,000.
