Camanche to revisit garbage contract

CAMANCHE — The City of Camanche is set to vote this week on a proposal from Republic Services to provide garbage and recycling services.

The Council agenda includes adopting a resolution approving a contract with Republic Services for solid waste and recycling collection services for residences in the City of Camanche. The Council voted 4-1 earlier this month to approve the contract conditionally pending changes in contract language for 29 Oaks and small businesses.

The proposal calls for a rate of $15.33 per residential unit from May 1 to April 30, 2020. The rate increases to $19.40 from May 1, 2025 to April 30, 2026. The proposal includes a curbside city cleanup rate, as requested by the city, for $104 from May 1 to April 30, 2020. The proposed rate for May 1, 2025 to April 30, 2026 is $132.

Also on the agenda is the second reading and adoption of an ordinance modifying provisions of the city's natural gas franchise and franchise fees. The city intends to waive the third reading, according to the agenda.

The agenda includes the reading and adoption of an ordinance amending the Code relating to electric franchises. The city will conduct a public hearing on establishing franchise fees on electric utility.

The Council will consider quotes for a camera system at the community center from Lectronics for $5,136 and Company One for $5,995 and will discuss a snowmobile ordinance, the agenda says.

The Council will conduct a closed session for disposition of interest in real estate and will take action on a real estate interest, the agenda says.

The Camanche City Council is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
