Clinton Public Library names new director

CLINTON — The Clinton Public Library Board of Trustees announced Thursday that Susan Serrano has been hired as the new library director.

Board members Tom Streveler, Francie Hill and Bart Leavens formed a search committee to find a new director.

“This was truly a dedicated group,” said Board President Colleen Nixon in a press release.

“A comprehensive and intense search was launched in February and generated 37 applications from throughout the United States. When we saw Susan’s qualifications, we knew we were extremely interested,” Nixon wrote.

A 2009 graduate of San Jose State University, Serrano has a master’s degree in library and information science and an associate degree in business. She has more than 20 years experience working in public libraries, Nixon said.

Serrano is currently the assistant director of the Butte County Library in Northern California and will assume the duties of Clinton Public Library director in July.
