DeWitt man facing sex assault charge

DEWITT — A DeWitt man has pleaded not guilty to a Class B felony sexual abuse.

James Anthony Reisdorf, 47, admitted to engaging in alleged sexual acts with a minor for the past three years, according to an arrest affidavit filed March 8 by an officer with the DeWitt Police Department.

That minor is now 13 years old, the affidavit said.

Reisdorf was charged with one felony count of second-degree sexual assault that comes with a potential 25-year prison term. He pleaded not guilty to that charge March 11.

A cash-only bond was set at $25,000 in Clinton County Court on March 11.

DeWitt police requested Reisdorf come to the station March 8 to discuss an incident that previously had been reported to the department. During that visit, police say Reisdorf admitted to committing the alleged abuse with the victim over a three-year period, according to the affidavit.

An initial investigation verified the defendant has had access to the victim, according to records.

An arraignment has been set for 8:30 a.m. March 21, in Clinton County District Court. He is represented by a public defender, Harold J. Delange II, of Davenport.
