CLINTON — The Felix Adler Children’s Discovery Center is celebrating its 30th annual Felix Adler Day on Saturday, June 15.
From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., join the Discovery Center’s celebration of its biggest event of the year. This festival is held in honor of Frank B. “Felix” Adler, who was a famous clown with Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus, from Clinton, and the inspiration for the Felix Adler Children’s Discovery Center.
Felix Adler Day gives everyone free admission to the Discovery Center and the festival grounds. There will be plenty of family fun to be had and things to explore both on the festival grounds and in the museum. This includes pony rides, a petting zoo, trackless train rides, live stage shows, inflatable bouncy houses, a game tent with prizes every time, face painting, balloon artists, professional clowns, and a food booth by the Fulton Kiwanis Club with all proceeds going to the Discovery Center.
Entertainment on the Showcase Stage, outside under the big tent, includes:
- 10 a.m. – Festival opening ceremony with the national anthem.
- 10:15 a.m. – Clinton Community Children’s Choir brings you “It’s Showtime!” with some Broadway hits including Wizard of Oz and 76 Trombones.
- 11:30 a.m. – River City Municipal Band with patriotic music and show tunes.
- 12:15 p.m. – Dance 4 Joy Dancers.
- 1:30 p.m. – Mr. Taylor Sings.
- 2 p.m. – Showboat Deckhands with a taste of this summer’s Children’s Theatre, featuring excerpts from James and the Giant Peach and Really Rosie.
- 2:30 p.m. – Mr. Taylor Sings.
Wednesday, June 12, from 2 to 5 p.m. is a WOW Wednesday at the Discovery Center, sponsored by the US Bank Foundation. Make a whale of a good Father’s Day card at the Please-Touch-Table. Miss Jean is also here every WOW Wednesday with her chess, juggling and logic puzzles.
Friday, June 14, at 10 a.m. is Funtime Friday, sponsored by the Clinton Kiwanis Club and Alliant Energy Foundation. Sink your teeth into this shark-themed Funtime Friday. Come sing along with Baby Shark Billy to the popular kid’s song “Baby Shark.” As always, there will be a snack to go along with the theme.
