Film screening, human trafficking discussion is Jan. 17

CLINTON — The Sisters of St. Francis Franciscan Peace Center will hold a free film screening of "Oblivious" and a human trafficking panel discussion at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at Clinton Community College, 1000 Lincoln Blvd., in Clinton.

Panel members include Jessup Schroeder, Clinton County deputy sheriff; Gretchen Brown-Waech, Victim Rights & Human Trafficking coordinator with the Iowa Attorney General's Office; and Peter Komendowski, president and executive director of the Partnership for a Drug-Free Iowa

The panel discussion will be preceded by a screening of the short film “Oblivious.” The film examines the life of an American high school student trapped in the vicious world of human trafficking unbeknownst to her family.
