CLINTON — As part of National Fire Prevention Week, the Leary Firefighters Foundation and Google Nest have awarded the Clinton Fire Department a $25,000 grant.
The funding is officially known as the Thank You Grant, a media release said this week, and 2019 being the fourth year for the recognition.
The grant awards “two deserving fire departments across the country with $25,000 grants for new Google technology and equipment, so they are better equipped to serve their communities,” the release said. The Godfrey, Illinois Fire Department was also for the 2019 grant.
Google’s partnership with the Leary Firefighters Foundation has distributed more than $100,000 in technology to fire departments. The company distributes the Nest Protect Smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarm, the press release said.
