Fulton council will discuss amending water, sewer charges

CLINTON — The Fulton City Council on Monday will consider an ordinance to amend charges for water and sewer.

The Fulton City Council agenda under business includes a motion to approve an ordinance amending the charges for municipal water and sewer services in Title 5, Entitled Public Works. Fulton City Administrator Randy Boonstra at the April 8 Committee of the Whole meeting said the council during a budget workshop decided to include a 4 percent increase in water and sewer fees to cover more maintenance.

The agenda also includes a motion to approve the street improvement plan for 2019. Boonstra during the Committee of the Whole meeting on April 29 presented a street plan for 2019. The plan was based on council input, engineering discussions and cost estimates. Boonstra and the public works department recommended work be done on five roads.

Funding will come from 50 percent video gaming and 50 percent street depreciation accounts for 10 years, in addition to $300,000 from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity as a refund from the revolving loan fund.

The Fulton City Council Committee of the Whole agenda includes discussion on the location of Park and Play equipment and on the official city logo. The agenda also includes a suggestion to consider renaming Fulton Industrial Park to "XYZ" Business Park. There will also be a presentation of department head job descriptions.

The Fulton City Council is scheduled to meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday. The Committee of the Whole meeting will take place after the regular council meeting.
