CLINTON — Mercy Medical Center-Clinton recently announced the addition of Dr. Joseph Pale as Emergency Department medical director.
As medical director, Pale leads the physician group for Mercy's Emergency Services. Earlier this year, Mercy-Clinton partnered with TeamHealth, a national physician services group to provide specialized 24/7 services for emergency care.
TeamHealth has been providing support services, networks of communication, educational resources for physicians and medical professionals to share and shape best practices for over 35 years. TeamHealth provides teams of physicians in over 3,200 facilities throughout the United States and treats more than 26 million patients each year.
Pale began his administrative duties at Mercy-Clinton this summer and serves as a current provider.
"I'm very excited to begin this new chapter of my career at Mercy-Clinton, as I am impressed by the knowledge and the compassion of every staff person in this hospital," said Pale. "I hope to harness that palpable energy, and work toward improving patient care by improving communication across hospital teams."
Before coming to Mercy, Pale worked in the business world before turning to do humanitarian work around the time of the war in Kosovo. He joined the organization "Doctors Without Borders," working in Zambia, Sudan and Nigeria until starting medical school in New York City. Pale trained at Cornell University Medical School in New York and completed his residency at Cornell – Columbia New York Presbyterian Hospital.
