The Clinton Police Department and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are continuing to investigate what they describe as a violent crime that happened last week in building 847, apartment 12 on Gateway Avenue in Clinton.

CLINTON — What authorities describe as a violent crime at Hawthorne Woods Apartments last week does not present an immediate danger to the public, the Iowa Department of Public Safety said in a press release Tuesday evening.

The Clinton Police Department and Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are continuing to investigate events that happened last week in building 847, apartment 12 on Gateway Avenue in Clinton.

Law enforcement is reviewing and vetting all information and leads in the case and conducting searches at a number of locations, including residences, outbuildings and landfills, the release says.

Law enforcement is still requesting the public’s assistance to locate two people of interest – Khalil Pugh and Ja’Kwane O’Brian Polidore, the release says. Anyone with information on their location should call Clinton Police Capt. John Davis at 243-1457 or Clinton County CrimeStoppers at 1-888-883-8015.

A prior news release says that about 10:20 a.m. Feb. 24, Clinton police were called to the 800 block of Gateway Avenue regarding suspicious activity. The Clinton Police Department discovered evidence leading them to believe a violent crime occurred in Building 847, apartment No. 12.
