One killed in collision near Low Moor overpass

CLINTON — One person is dead after a two-vehicle crash Thursday just west of the Low Moor overpass.

Clinton County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the collision in the 3700 block of westbound U.S. 30 around 4:15 p.m. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a white pickup had collided with the rear of a semi-tractor trailer that was turning into a farm driveway. The pickup was occupied by one male subject who was deceased. The driver of the semi was not injured.

Deputies have not released the name of the deceased driver.

In order to conduct a traffic crash investigation, deputies closed U.S. 30 westbound and routed traffic onto 380th Avenue, which is the Low Moor exit. The Iowa State Patrol responded to conduct a technical investigation. An Iowa motor vehicle enforcement officer responded because a commercial motor vehicle was involved in the collision.

The decedent’s body was transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. The name will be released once family members are notified, Sheriff Rick Lincoln said.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Low Moor Volunteer Fire Department, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Iowa Department of Transportation, Genesis Ambulance and the Clinton County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The collision remains under investigation by the ISP.
