pink guitar

Local rock band Coupe DeVille shows one of two pink guitars it will sell Saturday in Moline, Illinois to raise money for cancer research. The band will donate the money from the sale as well as $1 for each signature to Clinton County’s Relay for Life.

CLINTON – Coupe DeVille’s pink guitars will hit the auction block Saturday at 3 p.m. at Moline Township Activity Center.

The Iowa Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame band has collected signatures on two pink acoustic guitars at concerts, hospitals and civic club meetings to raise money for Clinton County’s Relay for Life. Coupe DeVille will donate the entire amount from the sale of the guitars as well as $1 for each signature.

“A few days ago I counted one of them,” said Coupe DeVille’s Jim Clark. “It’s going to be about 200 on one of them.” He’s guessing the band may have 500 signatures total.

The auction will follow a performance by Coupe DeVille from 1-3 p.m. at Moline’s free end-of-year party featuring food, music, a car show and raffles. Cruise into Fall begins at 12 p.m. outside the Moline Township Activity Center, 620 18th St. in Moline, Illinois.

“We had to sign a band T-shirt,” Clark said, which someone will win in a drawing at 3 p.m. Cruise into Fall will probably also have a Coupe DeVille package with band merchandise as a raffle prize, Clark said. “It all goes to Relay for Life.”
