PLATTEVILLE, Wis. — The University of Wisconsin-Platteville celebrated its 202nd commencement ceremonies May 10-11 in Williams Fieldhouse. The ceremonies included the awarding of master’s degrees.

Andrew Schultz, of DeWitt, earned his Master of Science Degree in Project Management.

Students complete Cornell Summer Research Institute

MOUNT VERNON — Forty Cornell College students have completed research for the Cornell Summer Research Institute (CSRI), including: Eric Medenblick of Fulton, Illinois and Daniel Klever of Elizabeth, Illinois.

The eight-week institute paired students with faculty for intensive research projects from May 20-July 12. Among many topics, the teams studied homelessness, tropical volcanic eruptions, performances at the NCAA Track and Field Championships, an ultrasonic gesture-controlled piano, and monarch butterflies.

Hudson awarded Washburn Univ. Scholarship

TOPEKA, Kansas — Johann Hudson of Thomson, Illinois, was awarded a Washburn University freshman academic scholarship for the 2019-2020 school year.

These renewable scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors with a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher and an ACT composite score of 21 or higher. Scholarship award amounts range from $500 to $5,000 based on academic performance. Hudson is a graduate of Prince Of Peace Catholic Academy.

Local students named to Dean’s List at Simpson College

INDIANOLA — Simpson College has announced that 227 students qualified for the Dean’s List for the 2019 spring semester. Students on the Dean’s List achieved a grade-point average of between 3.70 and 3.99 throughout the semester.

Local students on the list are Jonathan Facio of Clinton and Alayna Geronzin of Camanche.

Upper Iowa Univ. announces May 2019 graduates

FAYETTE — Upper Iowa University has announced its 2019 graduates. Local students include:


- Wilson Amely, Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education.


- Cori Langfitt, Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.


- Haily Sams, Bachelor/Science: Nursing degree.

Trinity Christian College announces Dean’s List

PALOS HEIGHTS, Ill. — In recognition of outstanding academic achievement, Trinity Christian College released the college’s Dean’s List for Spring 2019.

The dean’s list is Trinity Christian College’s highest academic honor. Traditional undergraduate students who attend Trinity full-time and earned a 3.5 grade-point average earn this honor.

Collin Puckett of Fulton, Illinois, was named to the list.

UW-Milwaukee announces Dean’s List

MILWAUKEE — Emily Wallander of Morrison, Illinois, was named to the Dean’s List at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for the Spring 2019 semester. The Dean’s List recognizes full-time undergraduate students who have earned a 3.5 grade-point average or higher.

UW-La Crosse announces May 2019 graduates

La CROSSE, Wis. — Joni Muhlhausen, of Maquoketa, earned a Master of Science in Education, Student Affairs Administration in Higher Education, from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Avan Colah awarded degree from Miami University

OXFORD, Ohio — Avan Colah of Clinton was among more than 3,800 students from Miami University who received degrees during spring commencement exercises May 18 at Millett Hall.

Colah graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Biology.
