CLINTON – YWCA Clinton announced its new Children’s Center Leadership Team this week.
Amanda Snyder, director for the Lyons campus; Ruth Sels, director for the downtown campus; and Colin Larson, youth director for the youth department overseeing summer camp and afterschool programming bring extensive experience to their roles, the YWCA said. Together they have more than 18 years of service with YWCA Clinton.
Synder attended college at William Penn University majoring in education, the YWCA said. Sels has been the lead teacher in the 2-year-old room at the Downtown Campus for the past 7 ½ years and holds a Child Development Associate credential. Larson joined the YWCA Youth Department in September 2017.
The YWCA Children’s Center provides childcare for children ages 6 to 11 from 6 a.m. to midnight with a capacity of 195 early education childcare spots. The Children’s Center was recently voted Best Childcare by Clinton Herald readers for the River Cities Choice Awards and has a 4-star Quality Rating System score by the Iowa Department of Human Services at both the downtown and Lyons campuses, the YWCA said.
The YWCA Clinton After School Program is DHS licensed for a combined total of 77 children at Jefferson, Whittier, and Eagle Heights elementary schools and for 61 students for Summer Camp.
YWCA Clinton has been active in Clinton since 1915 and has evolved into an organization that provides a full array of health and wellness options, aquatics programming, childcare, preschool, youth programs, and housing services.
