Autumn Blaze

This year’s progressive painting by members of the Palisades Art League is “Autumn Delight”, and is a landscape on canvas. Raffle tickets for the painting are $1 each or seven for $5.

SAVANNA, Ill. — The Palisades Art League’s 58th Annual Art Show and Sale will be Oct. 19-20 in the West Carroll Primary School, 2215 Wacker Road, Savanna.

Open to the public with no admission charge, the show will run from 3 to 7 p.m. Oct. 19 and noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 20. Critique by the judges for the artists will begin at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. This year’s Fine Arts judge is Irene Thraen-Borowski of Galena, Illinois. Photography judge Bill Bixler of Clinton.

PAL President Sandra Dunlap of Mount Carroll, Illinois will present a Best of Show ribbon and a $50 award to four winners during the awards ceremony at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, as chosen by judges of both artistic and photographic divisions.

Votes of PAL members will decide who will receive the Peer Award medal.

A People’s Choice Award will be chosen again this year by the guests of the show voting for their favorite piece of art and photography.

All artists, whether amateur or advanced in experience, may enter this competition. Artwork will be divided according to the mediums of painting, drawing, mixed media, dimensional works, photography and computer generated art at both the amateur and advanced levels.

Entry fee for students kindergarten through 12th grade will be $1 for each entry. PAL members’ entry fee will be $2 and non-members will be $3.

All art work must be original, never previously entered in a PAL show and be properly framed with wire hangers, not modern back bar hangers.

It was created by six PAL members, Sandy Dunlap, Linda Hill, Fayellen Sanetra, Claudette Quarnstrom, Diane Powell and Florence Russell. Tickets will be drawn for the painting and other prizes around 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

Quarnstrom, a Hanover, Illinois resident, will be the Featured Artist. Some of her paintings will be displayed in the entrance hall of the school.

Heartland Pet Welfare will hold a bake sale during the show to raise funds to support its shelter.

Artists who have registered by Oct. 16 should bring their artwork to the WCPS between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Oct. 18. Late registrations on Friday will not be accepted.
