We have spent a combined total of 70 years working as teachers for the Clinton School District. It wasn’t until the last 2 ½ years that we discovered a hidden gem in our community. That gem is Clinton Community College.
Our daughter, Katie, began her studies there in January 2017 and completed her degree last December. She transferred to St. Ambrose University, where she has a solid footing due to the instruction and support she received at CCC.
From the moment Katie stepped into the environment in January 2017, she was welcomed.
Clinton Community College not only provided a strong academic foundation, but also offered opportunities for employment and community involvement. In fact, during a campus visit before classes started, a staff member encouraged her to apply for a job as a Student Ambassador. She worked at numerous CCC events, including LumberKings games, orientations for new students, summer camps, career fairs and high school visits. The following year, Katie also worked in the Student Success Center, tutoring students in English and Psychology.
We believe CCC’s greatest attribute is its employees. The staff is extremely helpful and open to both students and parents. In the teachers you will find professionals willing to go the extra mile for their students. They are understanding and aware that each student brings with them their own personal experiences and they are willing to work with all. Their open-door policy means you don’t need to make appointments – just stop in. What a welcome feeling.
If parents and high school students are making a decision as to where to further a student’s education, we believe that a great place to start that journey is Clinton Community College. You would be hard pressed to find a better bargain when considering the tuition cost and the scholarships available. A great example is the Paul B. Sharar Foundation, which offers a large amount of scholarship assistance to all students. Also, Connections Scholarships are available to high school seniors.
Clinton Community College is a great place to learn, to grow, and to flourish.
Clinton Community College is a hidden gem.
