Camanche Christmas event will occur each year

"Christmas in Camanche" was celebrated this year for the first time with a gathering of residents.

Many wore shirts with the Kinnick Stadium on the front but saying "Camanche Does the Wave This Way" and the Indian on the back doing the wave to the Stead Children's Hospital in Iowa City.

This was followed by Mayor Willis lighting the Christmas tree in Central Park. The day began with a free dinner for all residents of Camanche and then caroling, the high school choir singing Christmas carols, signing of cards to be mailed to the military troops overseas, cookie decorating with a cookie walk and Santa arriving on a fire truck and greeting the children. It was all a lot of fun and will now be an occurrence each year during the holidays.
