Thank veterans for serving our country

Veterans Day is Nov. 11. From military cemeteries in France, the Pacific and United States, our freedoms have a cost of young lives. When you see a veteran, thank them for what they have done for our freedom and lives.

If you have an old or worn out flag you may bring them to the AMVETS Post 28, 1317 S. 17th St. A repainted mailbox is located in the front of the post and the flags may be deposited there.

On Veterans Day, members of the AMVETS Honor Guard will conduct a dignified disposal ceremony for the flags. All Post members, veterans, families, friends and Scout troops are invited. A lunch will be served after the ceremony.

Van volunteers are still needed to drive veterans to the Iowa City and Bettendorf veteran clinics. All veterans are invited to join the veterans Post. For more information on volunteering, call 242-1151.

God bless America, our flag, all veterans past, present and future and our MIA/POWs of our beloved America.

Ed Staszewski,

Director of Clinton County Veterans Affairs
