Thanks to all who helped with Women's State Bowling Tournament

For over two years, the Clinton and Camanche bowling associations, with the help of our Clinton Convention and Visitors Bureau, have planned the 2019 Iowa Women's State Bowling Tournament.

Sunday, May 5, without a lot of fanfare, it came to a close. The final shifts came to our area to participate in this yearly event. Almost 2,000 participants overall, their spouses, non-bowler friends and even kids, have visited our two towns.

In 10 weekends of talking to bowlers, I didn't hear one negative comment about our towns! Nothing! Actually, quite the opposite. Our eating establishments got rave reviews, our "watering holes" had the best service and staff, our court house has beautiful architecture and our riverfront is beautiful!

Our bowling associations would like to give a big shoutout to our Clinton Convention & Visitors Bureau (Mary Seely, you were amazing to work with, and Ari, thanks for your design. Also, a big thanks to all of our businesses that supported us by purchasing ads – 7G Distributing, Plaza Bowling Center, Imperial Lanes, Bonnie's, Ray's TimeOut, Legend's, Sweetheart Bakery, Candlelight, Painted Rooster, Vitale's, Don's Jewelry, Luigi's, Happy Joe's, Wild Rose, Buffalo Wild Wings, Pizza Hut and Deana's Java Station. We also give a huge thank you to Bridgette and Kenny Garvey (Imperial Lanes) and Olivia and Mike Pelham (Plaza Bowling Center).

To everyone who volunteered in any way, from manning the shirt tables to jotting down scores for brackets and handing out cookies, (and Susie for making the jello shots), and especially to the numerous ladies who I badgered to sub on numerous weekends – you helped make this tournament possible!

The Clinton and Camanche bowling associations thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. We'll do this again!

Becky Graves,

Clinton
