Education is one of three impacts areas the United Way of Clinton County, Iowa focuses on. These focuses help create a strong and sustainable community. United Way's educational goal is to ensure that youth gain the knowledge, skills, and credentials in order to be prepared for the workforce, and be able to obtain family sustaining employment.
Evidence clearly demonstrates this can only occur if a solid foundation has been laid; school readiness is predictive of early grade proficiency, which is predictive of graduation. United Way of Clinton County, Iowa partners with nine various non-profit agencies and schools in the Clinton County, Iowa area including Clinton, Camanche, DeWitt, and surrounding areas to support this foundation and vision.
The United Way of Clinton County, Iowa raises funds to be distributed to the impact area agencies they partner with through an annual campaign drive. The Clinton County, Iowa Community donates or pledges funds that will assist in the areas of Financial Stability, Education, and Health and Wellness. For the 2018 fiscal year, $130,813 was allocated by the board to serve toward creating and/or sustaining education. Thank you to all!
The agencies included in this funding were Mentor Clinton; CCSD/AmeriCorps Reading Program; Central DeWitt Community School District; Clinton County, Iowa Imagination Library/Clinton Foundation; Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois; Kids First Academy; Northeast Community School District; Partners for Exceptional People; and the YWCA Children’s Center.
The Citizen Review Committee has begun the process for hearing and recommending funding to the board, based upon presentations from the approved participating agencies, for fiscal year 2019. This helps to give oversight by the community for validity and accountability of the programs United Way of Clinton County, Iowa partners with.
United Way of Clinton County, Iowa brings people together to assess and address needs to improve local communities. The organization’s focus is on Health/Wellness, Education, and Financial Stability – the building blocks for a good life. This is accomplished by being a connection point and bringing together individuals, businesses, industry, and nonprofit organizations to make positive changes in our community. The United Way of Clinton County, Iowa offers a cost-effective and efficient approach to supporting local human service efforts that make a difference in our communities through donations, advocacy and volunteerism.
