BOSTON – Tom Brady abruptly ended his regular radio interview on a sports radio station Monday because of a sarcastic comment made on the station last week about his 5-year-old daughter.
Host Alex Reimer of the early morning “Kirk & Callahan” show referred to Brady’s daughter as an “annoying little pissant” on Thursday while discussing the Facebook Watch documentary series “Tom vs. Time.”
“It was very disappointing to hear that; my daughter or any child certainly does not deserve that,” Brady said before cutting short his call-in to the sports show.
Daughter Vivian appears in the six-part “Tom vs. Time” series that concludes Super Bowl Sunday and features an intimate behind-the-scenes look at the New England Patriots star quarterback, and his life with wife Gisele Bundchen, a top model, and their families. The couple also has a young son, Benjamin.
Brady, 40, said he will assess whether he wants to continue doing weekly interviews with the radio station. Entercom, the parent owner of WEEI, announced recently an extension of the partnership with Brady and Patriots coach Bill Belichick.
The Patriots departed Monday for Minneapolis and their date with the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl. Fans gathered at Gillette Stadium to give the team a hearty send-off.
Station WEEI said it suspended Reimer indefinitely on Friday.
In addition to the morning show, he writes for the station’s website. The site’s biography says Reimer has also been a contributor to the Boston Herald, SB National, Boston Magazine and Forbes Magazine.
