The Schmitt Family Dentistry Pickleball Tournament took place on Saturday at Clinton’s River City Tennis and Pickleball Facility.
The event was sponsored by Randy Schmitt, and Clinton mayor Scott Maddasion was present for the opening of the event.
It was a 32-person tournament with participants ranging from 15-to-70 years of age. Each player signed up as an individual and new partners were drawn each round following doubles play.
Raffle prizes were given out and the facility received many of those prizes back as donations.
“River Cities Tennis and Pickelball not only draws great players, but also very nice people to be your friends,” Cindy Rasche, executive director of River Cities Tennis and Pickleball, said. “We are truly blessed at our facility with wonderful people playing throughout the day.”
Second place went to Deb Olson and Tim Van Zuiden, while first place champions were Blake Haskell and Tim Harty.
“Many great opportunities to play pickleball and tennis in our facility,” Rasche said. “Group lessons, private lessons, drill sessions, leagues, open play, court rentals — just to mention a few of the activities at our facility. Summer-youth tennis lessons are just around the corner.”
